ZAFER GENCAYDIN
(1941, Ankara)

He received education at Malatya Akcadag Country Institute than graduated from Gazi Teacher Training Institute in 1965. He worked at Diyarbakir and Hasanoglan Teacher Training Schools for a while. He went to Goethe Institute, for language and stayed there between 1971 - 1972. He also attended the Fine Arts College between the years of 1972 - 1978. He worked in the workshops of Prof. Hans Jaenisch and Prof. Peter Ackermann. He was given the title of "Meistersschule" by the senate of the Berlin Fine Arts College in 1977. In 1977 - 1978, he joined the seminars of "The Structure of Film Making, Painting and Sonority Relations".

He received his degree of Proficiency in art, from Hacettepe University, Social Sciences Department in 1983. He became a professor in 1994. He was the Dean of the Fine Arts Department between 1994 - 1997 and 2000 - 2003.

The artist, who has a abstract expressionist intelligence, has become one of the most important names in converting political and intellectual approach to national and matters into painting.

He is still teaching art at Hacettepe University, Painting Department.
