Adnan Turani graduated from the Painting Department of the Gazi Education Institute in 1948. He had the opportunity, by being successful in the European Exam in 1953, to continue his education in Germany, where he attended the Fine Arts Academics of Munich, Stuttgart and Hamburg. On his return to Ankara, Turani worked as an instructor for several years, first at Gazi, then at Hacettepe University. In 1973, he received his doctorate. He worked as a faculty member of Bilkent University between the years 1986 and 1990. He had participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
The artist has twice been honored by the Achievement Award in the State Painting and Sculpture Exhibition. In 1992 he was named Artist of the Year and in 1993 he received the Sedat Simavi Prize. In 2001, he received the Honor Award given by the Contemporary Artists Association. More recognition came in 1998, when Anadolu University bestowed an honorary doctorate on him. Since 1990. Turani has been on his own continuing to create art.
