Man is at the heart of Zeyrek's painting, and he feels that by leaving a mark on the world man transcends the dichotomy of life and annihilation; that the will not to surrender to fate parallels aesthetic creativity. The foundation of wholeness is in stone, and therefore Zeyrek gives the texture of stone in his work, imparting to his figures a statuesque stolidity. His forms have an archaic nobility, as he believes that universality can be achieved only through an of the local, with recourse at times to traditional forms and techniques.
