FATMA NAZLI ECEVIT
(1900, Istanbul-1985 Ankara)
Ecevit went to a middle school in Besiktas, and in 1915 graduated from the Normal School for Girls. At the behest of the artist Mihri Musfik she - enrolled at the Inas School of Fine Arts, where she graduated in 1922, She studied under Mihri hanim and OmerAdil bey, and also took lessons from Ibrahim Feyhaman Duran. Ecevit taught painting and drawing at the Besiktas Middle School for Girls, and when her father Colonel Emin Sargut bey went to Kastamonu to take part in the War of Liberation, she taught for a time in that city. Her father indepentand then took her to Bolu and Izmit, where she also taught.
In 1924 she married a doctor, Fahri bey, and the couple moved to Ankara where Ecevit taught painting and drawing at both the Ankara High School for Girls and the Conservatory. Apart from some ten solo exhibitions, her works were displayed in Union of Fine Arts exhibitions, State Exhibitions of Painting and Sculpture, and exhibitions held in Paris by the "Clup International Feminine-" For a brief time Ecevit chaired the Union of Fine Arts.
